Tang Soo Do Korean Martial Arts


March 4 - March 27  
The Chicopee Parks & Recreation Department is offering classes in Tang Soo Do Korean Martial Arts. Come learn with Master Jeffrey Bulissa, a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, and learn about self-defense, confidence and physical fitness. Children, family members and parents can train together.

Mondays and Wednesdays                                                                                        

Class Times

Little Dragons (ages 5 to 6):All Dragon Ranks             6:00 to 6:30pm 
Gups (ages 7 and up): (beginners),up to Green belts  6:30 to 7:30pm  
Gups (ages7 and up):Brown, Red, and Blue belts       7:30 to 8:30pm

Costs:
Dragons: $40 per 8 class session, 2x per week*
Gups: $50 per 8 class session, 2x per week*

All classes are held at Chicopee Parks & Recreation Dept.. Pre-registration for program at the Chicopee Parks Department.


ART-ventures for Kids

The kids are on vacation from school so join us and Art ventures for Kids for 5 different themed days or art fun. Sign up for 1, 2 or all 5.   

Monday, April 15, Brave Knights and Fluttering Fairies 
Sculpt Clay Dragon Sculptures, design fairy and knight stuffed toys and create stained glass butterflies. 

Tuesday, April 16, Wacky, Wonderful Witches and Wizards

Use of combination of sculpting, painting and decorating to create witch and wizards figurines. Plus, build magical dwellings out of a super-secret enchanted ingredient and draw magical self-portraits in the style or witches, wizards, fairies, elves, goblins, mermaids or any fairy-tale creature you can imagine!

Wednesday, April 17, Magical Mermaids and Fire Breathing Dragons
Build Fairy houses with real rocks, moss, sticks and more! Plus, design painted Mermaid or Dragon T-shirts and create shiny tissue foil art.

Thursday, April 18, Goofy Goblins and rainbow Unicorns
Draw ferocious(or friendly!) Dragons on canvas, sculpt colorful clay Goblin masks and paint totally amazing ceramic Unicorn banks.

Friday, April 19, Do you Believe in Magic?
Create decoupage Fairy boxes, sculpt clay Unicorn magnets and color and decorate wooden :Believe" word signs.

Bring an old, oversized T-shirt to use as a smock, a nut free snack and a drink.

Lifeguard Training Class

The Parks Department is holding an American Red Cross lifeguard certification classes at the Chicopee High School Pool. The classes will run Saturday March  23, 30 and April 6. Classes will be held from (10 AM– 4 PM.). Participants must attend all 3 classes. The Cost is $295/person.  This course will include certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and Community First Aid. Participants must be 16 years of age on or before the end of the course.

All participants must take a pre-skills test on the first day of class to be officially enrolled in the course. Register & pay at the Parks Dept.

CPR/AED & First Aid Training Class

The Parks Department is offering a certification class in First Aid/cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator on Saturday April 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12: p.m. (CPR/AED from 9 – 10:30 a.m. First Aid 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.) at the Chicopee Parks & Recreation Dept. 687 Front St.

The cost for the full class is $75 for residents and $80 for non-residents. The Cost for CPR/AED only or First Aid only is $40/Resident and $45/Non-Resident.  These are basic certifications & do not apply for daycare providers, lifeguards and nurses. Participants are invited to bring a snack. Class space is limited and pre-registration is mandatory at the Chicopee Parks and Recreation Department at 687 Front St. or by calling 594-3481.
