Support Groups


UPDATE: Deputy Chief Dakin has assigned 2 officers to the Senior Center Director, to make checks, and assist, with checking on the well being of our Seniors and making sure they are ok, and have information they need for the various programs available, such as Meals on Wheels. The officers will be in full uniform, with PPE equipment on, when checking.

Meal Options for Seniors COVID-19
Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group

  • 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
  • 3rd Wednesday of each month
This group provides educational & emotional support for the caregivers of older adults with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia. 

Living Again

  • 1:00 p.m.
  • 2nd Tuesday of each month
Facilitated by volunteer Irene Remillard, this group meets monthly & is open to anyone dealing with bereavement issues. Group members are able to talk about recovering from the death of a loved one in a supportive environment.

Grandparents as Parents

  • 6:00 - 7:15 p.m.
  • 2nd Tuesday of each month
A group for any grandparent or other kin who are the primary caregiver to their grandchild(ren). Includes support group, case management, education, & social activities. Child care provided during monthly meetings. Casey Conroy, Program Coordinator, assists with facilitating the group.

Veteran's Voice

  • 1:00 p.m.
  • Last Wednesday of each month
A discussion group for veterans who would like to spend time with each other & share their experiences. Brings together veterans from different wars & generations by reflecting upon how the military impacted their lives. Guest speaker featured each month. 

Cancer Support Group

  • 12:00 p.m.
  • 3rd Tuesdays of each month

This group is to support those affected by all stages of cancer diagnosis and treatment, along with family and friends who may be impacted.  Wellness Health nurses Helen Biglin and Dianne Copeland are the group facilitators.  

Memory Café of Chicopee 

  • 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
  • 4th Tuesday of the month

The Arbors of Chicopee hosts monthly Memory Café at RiverMills and welcomes people with memory challenges and their caregivers to come socialize, relax, listen to music and have fun.  Coffee and sweets are provided.

Veteran's  Benefits Counseling

  • August 2, 2018 
  • 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.  

Representatives from the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 Westover will visit Rivermills on the first Thursday ever other month to help Veteran's with Benefits counseling and claims.  Please register for an appointment by calling 534-3698 or stop by RiverMills.

Bright spot therapy dogs Inc. of Leeds, has arranged for AVA to come with her owner Maggie, on Wednesdays around 10:30 a.m. Ava is a Therapy Dog, she is a beagle mix and is very friendly.  COME SAY HELLO!!!!
